BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Damon P. Williams serves as the inaugural associate dean for inclusive excellence for the college of engineering at Georgia Tech. Prior to this appointment Damon served on the academic faculty at Georgia Tech in the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) department as a senior lecturer and the director of ISyE’s center for academics, success, and equity which he founded in 2020. He is occasionally called upon to speak nationally on higher education and diversity in academia.

Rev. Williams also loves his church family where he is honored to serve as the Senior Pastor of the historic Providence Missionary Baptist Church in southwest Atlanta. Called to pastor Providence in 2012 Rev. Williams is a passionate leader, dynamic teacher, powerful preacher, and an anointed visionary. Under his leadership Providence has grown both spiritually and numerically as Pastor Williams has set a new vision for the ministry.

A native of Ellicott City, Maryland, Dr. Williams matriculated at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, in Industrial and Systems Engineering in 2002. He later earned a Master of Science degree, and Doctorate degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan (U of M). Upon earning his Ph.D., Rev. Williams returned to Georgia to attend Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, where he was both a Columbia Honors Fellow and a Forum for Theological Exploration (FTE) Ministry Fellow. In May 2012, he graduated from Columbia with a Master of Divinity (M.Div) degree.

Personally, Rev. Williams considers his family to be his greatest accomplishment as he is a loving husband and father. He is the supportive husband of the Rev. Dr. Khalia J. Williams who serves as an associate dean of worship and spiritual formation and associate professor of worship at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Damon & Khalia are the proud parents of two Sons, Master Thomas Christian Williams (7) and Master Ethan Miles Williams (5).
