U-M IOE Senior Design Expo highlights graduating seniors’ real-world research and solutions.
The University of Michigan (U-M) Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) gathered for the Senior Design Expo to celebrate eighteen student groups who spent the semester working with industry partners such as General Motors, Henry Ford Health System, Consumers Energy, Maize and Blue Cupboard and many more. Research interests ranged from expanding food inclusivity to developing and evaluating ethical AI software and optimizing inventory management.
The biannual event was held in the newly renovated U-M IOE Building for the first time.
“This event demonstrates the transformative nature of this renovation,” said U-M IOE Department Chair Julie Simmons Ivy. “The students and families can see the environment where our students are working and learning. You can feel the energy. This is our IOE home.”
The first place group will join the fall semester winners to share their research nationally at the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers’ (IISE) senior design competition in Atlanta.
