On Thursday, April 7, 2023 students, faculty, and staff from the Univerisity of Michigan Industrial and Operations Engineering (U-M IOE) Department came together to celebrate the accomplishments of their graduating graduate students at the Michigan League. This spring 67 students graduated from the U-M IOE PhD and master’s program. Many of whom were honored with awards.

Zhongzhu Chen awarded a Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship

Chen received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Data Science as well as a minor in economics from Peking University, in 2019. Chen’s research interests surround mixed-integer programming, large-scale optimization, information theory, and machine learning.

U-M Industrial and Operations Engineering undergraduate program advisor has been awarded the Outstanding Advisor Award from the Advising Council at the University of Michigan. The award, established in 2002, recognizes staff for outstanding academic advising.

BOHSI provides new perspectives on theoretical and methodological issues concerning the relationship of individuals and organizations to technology and the environment; identifies critical issues in the design, test, evaluation, and use of new human-centered technologies; and advises sponsors on the research needed to expand the scientific and technical bases for designing technology to support the needs of its users.
