The purpose of the Preliminary Examination is to determine if the student is adequately prepared to pursue doctoral research under the direction of a Dissertation Committee. The examination includes: 1) an evaluation of the student’s academic preparation, 2) evaluation of a detailed dissertation proposal, and 3) an oral examination.
