Seth Guikema, U-M Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) associate professor, has been elected President of the Society for Risk Analysis (SRA) for 2020.
The Society for Risk Analysis is an international society with over 2,000 members that provides an open forum for all those interested in risk analysis. SRA provides individuals from diverse disciplines and countries an opportunity to exchange ideas and methodologies for risk analysis and problem-solving.
“SRA serves an invaluable role in bringing the risk analysis community together and spans researchers, practitioners, regulators and others,” said Guikema. “I am excited to offer leadership to SRA and to help strengthen the organization.”
Guikema joined IOE in 2015 and his recent research is grounded in risk analysis, particularly data-driven risk analysis and complex systems simulation. This research focuses on the challenges of urban and infrastructure resilience and sustainability in a changing climate; this includes preparing research models that will predict a storm’s impact on electrical infrastructure.
