Thomas Chen is a doctoral pre-candidate in Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan. His research interests are exploring mathematical tools to drive better decision making addressing physical asset management. Such methodology include, but are not limited to: statistical learning theory, bayesian analysis, and optimization routines. His previous professional and research experiences have applied these methods in assessing risk levels in drinking water distribution systems and used them to formulate better maintenance operations.
