Esmaeil’s main research interests lie at the intersection of statistics and operations research with applications in healthcare operations management, medical decision making and supply chain management. He has been using multi-stage stochastic programming, robust optimization, machine learning, online optimization and online learning theory. The particular focus of his recent research would be on developing novel optimization and statistical learning approaches for coordinating clinic and surgery appointments and online surgery block allocation to operating room under uncertainty.
