Professor Nair holds a joint appointment in the IOE and Statistics Departments. In addition to engineering statistics, he has taught graduate courses in reliability and quality improvement. Starting July 1, 1998, he is also serving as Chair of the Statistics Department. His research interests are in the area of quality engineering, especially industrial experiments, reliability engineering and process control. He has extensive industrial experience, having worked at AT&T for fifteen years. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute. He is currently the Joint Editor of International Statistical Review and is a Past Editor of Technometrics, the leading journal for statistical methods in the physical and engineering sciences.
