Dennis Blumenfeld teaches courses in economic decision-making, queueing systems, and operations analysis and management. He spent most of his career as a staff research scientist at the General Motors Research and Development Center, focusing on design and operations of manufacturing systems and logistics networks. Before joining General Motors, he held faculty positions at Princeton University and University College London. He received a B.Sc. in mathematics and M.Sc. in statistics and operations research from Imperial College London, and a Ph.D. in civil engineering from University College London. He is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, and a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. Dr. Blumenfeld is author of the book Operations Research Calculations Handbook (CRC Press, 2010), an operations engineering reference volume in its second edition. He has published articles on transportation modeling, traffic flow and queueing, logistics, inventory control, and production systems, and has served on the editorial advisory board of the journal Transportation Research.
