Barry H. Kantowitz is the former Director of the Transportation Research Institute ($15 million annual budget), Professor of Industrial & Operations Engineering, and Professor of Psychology. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 21 and 5), American Psychological Society, and a Certified Professional Ergonomist. Dr. Kantowitz has published over 20 books and over 100 technical articles and book chapters, is currently Associate Editor of Human Factors, and edits the book series Human Factors in Transportation published by Erlbaum Associates. His research concerns attention and multi-tasking of in-vehicle telematic systems while driving. The research contract he currently manages for the U.S. Federal Highway Administration was one of the ten largest contracts awarded to the University of Michigan in 2001.
