Winter 2011 course in Quality Engineering: IOE 551 - Benchmarking, Productivity Analysis and Performance Measurement
Instructor: Prof. Larry Seiford
Credits: 3
Pre-Requisites: IOE 510 - Linear Programming (or equivalent)
Description: Benchmarking, productivity analysis and performance measurement can be used to improve an organization's products and processes. The practice of benchmarking—the global search for industry's best practices—is becoming widespread even though it suffers from a lack of support tools and methodologies. In contrast, performance measurement has a plethora of techniques, most of them ad hoc and/or simplistic. This course will briefly survey the state-of-the-art in each arena and discuss strengths and limitations of the current approaches.
