NOTE:
* Applications are processed more quickly if you submit your documents electronically.
* You only have to submit one version of your documents.
* If you submit documents electronically AND through the mail (twice) your application will be processed more slowly then if you only submitted documents electronically.

Statement of Purpose: Must include areas of interest in top corner
- Personal Statement (Some suggested topics for your personal statement are:)
- volunteer and/or community service;
- extra-curricular activities;
- leadership activities;
- educational, cultural, geographic or socio-economic background underrepresented in your discipline of graduate study;
- financial hardship;
- first generation U.S. citizen or first generation in family to graduate from a four-year college

GRE scores: GRE scores sent from ETS (Institution code 1839, Department code 1301 or 1302). If you have the score report, please include a copy. The GRE provides a standardized measure of the applicant's ability for graduate studies. Applicants to the MS
Program who have a recent degree (within 5 years) from the University of Michigan are not required to take the GRE.

Three Letters of Recommendation: If you apply online, we encourage you to submit your letters electronically. (Note: At least TWO of your letters should be from faculty).
- Transcripts: Transcripts are only required from any institution from which you received a college level degree. Embark allows the electronic submission of transcripts. Details on how to upload transcripts are available on the Embark website.
Please review this note on grades.
- If you are unable to submit electronically we will accept all paper submissions
- You must provide 2 sets of official final undergraduate and/or graduate academic records/transcripts, with your degree posted. Official documents must be provided
from the institution awarding the degree. One set must be submitted to IOE and the second set must be sent to Rackham Graduate School Admissions.
It is your responsibility to request the release of any such records from the institutions involved. Your completed online application and supporting documents
(including academic records/transcripts, test scores, and letters of recommendation, etc.) should be SUBMITTED EARLY ENOUGH TO ARRIVE TWO TO THREE WEEKS PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE.
The deadline is the date by which all application materials must be received by both IOE and Rackham. Early submission may avoid unnecessary delays.

Note: All credentials submitted for admission consideration become the property of the University of Michigan and will not be returned in original or copy form.
- International Applicants must also send:
- Copy of the TOEFL score report

Track Your Application Progress: You can now track the progress of your application electronically. On Wolverine Access you can see when we received documents,
what documents we are missing, what recommenders letter we have received, whose letters we are missing, etc.
We will post your admission decision on Wolverine Access and you will indicate your admission decision on Wolverine Access.
Please Note: It may take 5-7 days from the receipt of your application for this information to appear on Wolverine Access.
